Liposculpture (Lipomodeling) of Face and Body
Removal and transplantation of purified autologous fat tissue from abdomen, thighs or back restores lost facial volumes and contours body, improving relief and skin quality with natural biocompatible material without allergy.

Liposculpture, or lipomodeling, is a field of plastic surgery that combines techniques for removing localized fat deposits, known as liposuction, and transferring the patient’s own fat, known as lipofilling, to create harmonious contours of the face and body.
Unlike simple “fat removal,” liposculpture is precise modeling: the surgeon not only removes excess fat but also redistributes fatty tissue to create a sculpted contour. At Iskusstvo Clinic in Moscow, liposculpture is performed by surgeons trained in the school of Professor Nerobeev.
The philosophy of liposculpture at Iskusstvo Clinic is based on the principle of “not simply removing, but redistributing.” Fat removed from areas of excess can be used to increase volume in areas of deficiency, such as the buttocks, breasts, cheekbones, lips, and hands. This approach allows the body contours to be significantly remodeled in one procedure.
Indications
Localized fat deposits resistant to diet and physical activity, including the abdomen, flanks, thighs, chin, knees, and back
Disproportionate body contours due to uneven distribution of fatty tissue
Lack of volume in specific areas, such as the buttocks, cheekbones, nasolabial folds, and back of the hands, as an indication for lipofilling
Desire to improve body definition and emphasize muscle contours, including high-definition liposculpture
Gynecomastia in men, involving the fatty component
Lipomas, or benign fatty tumors
Preparation of fatty tissue for autologous reconstruction, including DIEP flap procedures and breast lipofilling after reconstruction
Types of Liposuction
Iskusstvo Clinic offers all modern liposuction techniques, each with its own advantages and indications. The method is selected individually by the surgeon.
Classic, or Tumescent, Liposuction
Classic liposuction is the basic and most widely used method. The treatment area is infiltrated with a tumescent solution containing saline, anesthetic, and adrenaline. Fat is then removed through cannulas 2–4 mm in diameter.
This is a universal technique suitable for all body areas.
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction, or VASER
In VASER liposuction, fat cells are broken down with ultrasound energy before aspiration. This allows for more precise liposculpture, work close to the skin in the subcutaneous fat layer, and treatment of fibrous areas.
It is optimal for high-definition liposculpture.
Power-Assisted Liposuction, or PAL
In power-assisted liposuction, the cannula makes rapid back-and-forth movements, which helps break down and aspirate fat. This reduces physical strain on the surgeon and provides more even removal.
Water Jet-Assisted Liposuction, or WAL / Body-Jet
In water jet-assisted liposuction, fat is separated from the surrounding tissues using a directed stream of water. This technique causes minimal trauma to fat cells, making it optimal for harvesting fat for subsequent lipofilling.
Laser Liposuction
In laser liposuction, fat is broken down by laser energy delivered through a thin cannula. The technique also stimulates skin contraction through thermal effects on collagen fibers.
It is effective in areas with thin skin, such as the chin, neck, and inner arms.
Lipofilling, or Fat Transfer
Lipofilling is the transfer of the patient’s own fat from areas of excess to areas of deficiency. Fat is harvested by liposuction, purified through centrifugation, filtration, or decantation, and injected into the recipient area with thin cannulas in multiple layers.
It is used for buttock augmentation, or BBL, facial rejuvenation, correction of contours after liposuction, lip augmentation, and restoration of volume in the hands.
How the Procedure Is Performed
Liposuction and lipofilling are performed in the operating room of Iskusstvo Clinic. Preoperative preparation includes a consultation with the surgeon, marking of the treatment areas in a standing position, standard laboratory tests, and a consultation with an anesthesiologist.
Anesthesia may be local with sedation for small areas or general anesthesia for extensive liposculpture. The duration ranges from 1 hour for one area to 3–4 hours for multiple areas combined with lipofilling.
The patient may stay in the clinic for several hours on an outpatient basis or for up to 1 day.
Rehabilitation
Compression garments are worn for 4–6 weeks. Swelling is usually most pronounced on days 3–5 and gradually subsides over 2–4 weeks. Bruising usually resolves within 2–3 weeks.
Lymphatic drainage massage is recommended from days 7–10 to accelerate swelling reduction and improve contour smoothness. Physical activity is restricted for 3–4 weeks.
The final result of liposuction is visible after 3–6 months, once swelling has fully resolved. Recovery timelines are individual.
Risks and Complications
Possible complications include contour irregularities, seroma, hematoma, infection, undercorrection or overcorrection, changes in skin sensitivity, and thromboembolism in cases of extensive liposuction.
With lipofilling, partial resorption of the transferred fat may occur, usually around 20–40%. All potential risks are discussed during the consultation.
Contraindications
Decompensated somatic diseases
Blood clotting disorders
BMI over 30, as liposuction is not a weight loss method
Active oncological disease
Acute infectious diseases
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
The final decision is made by the doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Liposuction a Weight Loss Method?
No. Liposuction is intended to remove localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise in patients with normal or close-to-normal weight.
The best candidates are patients with a BMI under 30, stable weight, and good skin tone. For weight loss, consultation with a dietitian or bariatric surgeon is recommended.
Will Fat Return After Liposuction?
Fat cells removed during liposuction do not regenerate. However, with significant weight gain, the remaining fat cells increase in volume, and fat may accumulate in other areas.
Maintaining a stable weight is essential for a long-term result.
Which Liposuction Method Is Best?
Each method has its advantages. Classic liposuction is universal. VASER is used for precise sculpting and high-definition liposuction. Water jet-assisted liposuction is optimal for harvesting fat for lipofilling. Laser liposuction is suitable for areas with thin skin.
The surgeon will recommend the optimal method during the consultation.
How Much Fat Can Be Removed in One Procedure?
The safe limit is up to 5 liters of aspirate, including fat and tumescent solution, in one procedure. If a larger volume is required, a staged approach with an interval of 3–6 months is used.
Patient safety is the priority.
What Is Lipofilling and Where Can Fat Be Transferred?
Lipofilling is the transfer of the patient’s own fat from areas of excess to areas of deficiency.
The main areas include the buttocks, or BBL, the face, including cheekbones, nasolabial folds, temples, and lips, the breasts after reconstruction or for minor augmentation, the hands for rejuvenation, and the calves.
The patient’s own fat is an ideal filler: it is biocompatible, does not cause allergies, and provides a natural result.
