DEKA Laser Punto®

DEKA Laser Punto® is an ablative CO₂ laser platform designed for the treatment of pronounced age-related skin changes, scar deformities, and severe photodamage when less aggressive rejuvenation methods cannot provide a sufficient result.

Compared with non-ablative procedures, laser resurfacing with DEKA Laser Punto® requires a longer recovery period but delivers a more substantial and long-lasting improvement in skin texture, tone, and quality.

At the «Искусство» clinic, laser resurfacing is performed by physicians with specialized training in laser medicine. Treatment parameters are selected individually according to skin type, severity of changes, and the desired outcome.

Indications

DEKA Laser Punto® may be recommended for:

  • Deep and moderate wrinkles, including periorbital, perioral, and forehead lines
  • Atrophic scars and post-acne scarring
  • Hypertrophic and normotrophic scars as part of a comprehensive treatment plan
  • Marked irregularities in skin texture and relief
  • Lentigines, deep hyperpigmentation, and melasma-related changes
  • Actinic keratosis and selected superficial benign skin lesions
  • Advanced photodamage
  • Striae (stretch marks) associated with surface irregularities

How the Procedure Is Performed

The procedure is carried out under anesthesia.

Depending on the depth of treatment and the size of the treatment area, either topical anesthesia, local infiltration anesthesia, or intravenous sedation may be used. Full-face resurfacing often requires sedation to ensure patient comfort. The appropriate anesthetic protocol is discussed during consultation.

The laser beam is delivered according to a pre-programmed treatment pattern.

In the ablative mode, the laser vaporizes superficial skin layers in a controlled manner.

In the fractional mode, microscopic columns of tissue are treated while preserving bridges of healthy skin between them. This approach significantly accelerates recovery while maintaining high efficacy.

Treatment duration ranges from approximately 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the area treated and the selected settings.

Immediately after the procedure, the skin appears similar to a thermal burn, with noticeable redness and swelling.

The physician applies healing preparations or protective dressings and provides detailed written instructions regarding postoperative care.

Results and Recovery

Recovery Timeline

Recovery following ablative laser resurfacing occurs in several stages.

Days 1–3

Pronounced redness, swelling, tightness, and a burning sensation are expected.

During this phase, meticulous wound care is essential and includes the use of moisturizing and reparative products prescribed by the physician.

Days 4–10

Active peeling and shedding of the treated epidermis occur.

During this period, damaged skin is replaced by newly formed epidermal tissue.

Weeks 2–4

Residual redness gradually diminishes while the new epidermis strengthens.

Makeup can generally be applied after approximately 10–14 days.

Daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50+ is mandatory.

Months 1–6

Collagen remodeling continues, leading to progressive improvement in skin texture, tone, and elasticity.

The final result is usually evaluated between three and six months after treatment.

Clinical Effect

DEKA Laser Punto® resurfacing provides significant skin rejuvenation, including:

  • Reduction of deep wrinkles
  • Softening of scars
  • Improvement of uneven texture
  • Restoration of skin brightness and uniformity

With appropriate photoprotection, results may remain visible for three to five years or longer.

Number of Sessions

Most patients achieve substantial improvement after a single treatment session.

Individuals with severe scarring or advanced photoaging may benefit from a second procedure performed six to twelve months later.

Contraindications

Laser resurfacing is generally contraindicated in patients with:

  • Active skin infections, inflammation, or herpes simplex outbreaks in the treatment area
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active malignancy
  • Oral isotretinoin therapy within the previous 6–12 months
  • A tendency toward keloid scar formation
  • Fitzpatrick skin phototypes V–VI because of the increased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Coagulation disorders
  • Immunodeficiency states

A complete assessment is performed during consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does DEKA Laser Punto® Differ From Fraxel®?

Ablative resurfacing removes the superficial skin layer across the treated area, producing a more pronounced and faster rejuvenating effect but requiring a recovery period of approximately 7–14 days.

Fraxel® is a fractional non-ablative technology that treats microscopic zones while preserving healthy skin between them. Recovery is shorter, but several sessions may be needed to achieve results comparable to ablative resurfacing.

The choice depends on the severity of skin changes and the patient’s willingness to undergo downtime.

Is the Procedure Painful?

No.

Laser resurfacing is performed under local anesthesia or sedation.

During the first two to five days after treatment, patients may experience burning sensations and discomfort, which are generally well controlled with physician-recommended medications and skincare products.

When Is the Final Result Visible?

Although the skin usually looks noticeably improved within two to four weeks, the definitive outcome develops over three to six months as collagen remodeling is completed and pigmentation stabilizes.

Can Laser Resurfacing Be Performed on Darker Skin Types?

Patients with Fitzpatrick skin type IV may be treated cautiously with carefully selected parameters and appropriate skin preparation.

For skin phototypes V and VI, the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is significantly higher, and alternative procedures may be recommended.

How Should the Skin Be Cared for After Treatment?

During the recovery period patients should:

  • Apply all prescribed healing products
  • Avoid picking or manually removing peeling skin
  • Use SPF 50+ sunscreen daily
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least four to six weeks

Strict adherence to postoperative recommendations is essential for achieving an optimal result.
